Profit vs Cash Flow in a Retail Store
Understand why sales can rise while the store still struggles to pay suppliers.
By ElectroX Team
Profit measures revenue after costs under an accounting method; cash flow follows money entering and leaving. Stock purchases and customer credit make the timing different.
## Trace one product
A phone bought today uses cash now, but may sell next month. A credit sale can record revenue before the customer pays. Those dates matter for supplier bills.
## Watch working capital
Review stock held, customer dues, and supplier payables together. Avoid buying more slow stock merely because the profit report looks healthy.
## Plan near term cash
List expected receipts and payments for the next few weeks. Test what happens if one large customer pays late.
ElectroX sales, purchase, inventory, and payment records provide the pieces needed for both views; an accountant can align them with your books.
