Barcode Scanner Setup for an Electronics Store
A dependable barcode setup begins with readable labels, clean SKUs, and a test at the counter.

A scanner is useful only when one scan identifies the exact sellable item. Test the whole path from shelf label to receipt before printing labels for the full catalog.
## Map each code
Use the manufacturer's barcode when it uniquely identifies the variant. Give store labels to unpackaged accessories or used devices, and never reuse one code for two colors or capacities.
## Test real movements
Scan a sample during receiving, sale, and return. Confirm the selected product and quantity each time; a scanner that types into the wrong field can create convincing but incorrect records.
## Fix exceptions
Keep a short list of labels that fail, peel, or point to duplicates. Reprint the label and correct the catalog entry before staff learn a manual workaround.
In ElectroX, a stable product record connects the barcode, stock, and POS transaction, so the counter and shelf can be checked against the same item.
