Managing Khata Credit Sales Without Losing Track

Credit keeps regular customers loyal, but only if every balance is recorded, visible, and followed up on time.

By ElectroX Team

Selling on khata is part of how many local stores build loyalty. The risk is that balances live in a notebook, in a staff member's memory, or nowhere at all, and the money is never collected.

Decide who gets credit

Set simple rules: which customers can buy on credit, the maximum balance, and the expected repayment time. Make sure staff know who can approve an exception.

Record every credit sale against a customer

A credit sale must be linked to a named customer with a phone number. Record partial payments as they arrive so the balance is always current. Give the customer a receipt that shows the amount owed.

Review balances weekly

Look at the outstanding balances every week and contact customers whose payments are late. In ElectroX, sales can be marked as khata and partial payments recorded later, so the amount each customer owes is clear from their transactions.
