How to Organize Your Product Catalog Before the First Sale
A clear catalog makes checkout, stock counts, and reporting easier. Start with a structure your team can actually maintain.

Your catalog is the shared language of the store. If the same charger appears under three names, staff cannot trust a stock count or a sales report. Spend a little time on structure before importing hundreds of items.
Start with one naming pattern
Choose a format such as brand, model, capacity, and color. Give each sellable variation its own SKU. Put products in a small number of useful categories, and keep brand names consistent. A category should help someone find an item at the counter, not simply describe every detail about it.
Add the fields that affect a sale
Record selling price, cost, barcode if available, tax setting, and whether a device needs IMEI tracking or carries a warranty. Check a sample item with a cashier before importing the rest. If they cannot distinguish two similar products quickly, improve the names now.
Keep a review habit
Assign one person to approve new products and merge duplicates. Review inactive items monthly. ElectroX keeps products, brands, categories, prices, and device details together so the catalog used at checkout matches the one used for stock and reports.
