A Stock Count Routine That Works for a Small Store

You do not need to close the shop for a full count every week. A small, repeatable cycle catches errors sooner.

Stock differences usually grow quietly. A missed purchase entry, an unrecorded return, or an item sold under the wrong SKU can leave the shelf and the system telling different stories. A cycle count makes these gaps visible while they are still small.

Divide the catalog into manageable groups

Count fast moving and expensive items more often. Give each category a fixed day and count a small shelf or cabinet before opening or after closing. Record the physical quantity first, then compare it with the system quantity. This prevents the expected number from influencing the count.

Investigate before adjusting

Look at recent sales, purchases, returns, and transfers around every difference. Ask whether the item was scanned correctly and whether a similar variation was mixed into the bin. Note the reason for each correction so the same problem can be fixed at its source.

Close the loop

Track how many discrepancies repeat in the next cycle. ElectroX gives your team one place to review products, stock, and transactions while you work through the difference. A good count is a learning process, not just a new number in a field.
