A Backup and Restore Drill for Store Data

A backup is useful only if it can be restored and the result is readable.

Retail data includes sales, stock, customers, and service history. Losing one part of that history can stop the counter even when the software itself still opens.

## Identify the owner

Document where backups are stored, how often they run, who can access them, and how long they are retained. Protect copies from the same failure as the main server.

## Practice a restore

Use an isolated test environment, restore a recent backup, and check sample transactions, device records, and service jobs. Record the time and missing data window.

## Fix gaps

If a restore fails or takes too long, change the backup process and repeat the drill. Keep credentials and recovery instructions in a controlled place.

ElectroX is only as dependable as the store's recovery process; verify the full business record, not just the login screen.
