Selling Refurbished and Used Devices With Clear Records

Second hand devices need more documentation than new stock. Record condition, identity, and terms so later questions are easy.

Refurbished and used devices can be a profitable line, but each unit is different. Without clear records, a customer question about condition or warranty becomes one person's memory against another's.

Identify every unit

Record the IMEI or serial number of each device when you take it in, and check that it is not reported lost or blocked where such a check is available to you. Keep a note of where and when you acquired it.

Describe the condition honestly

Grade devices with simple, written criteria, such as screen condition, battery health, and cosmetic marks. Use the same grades in the product name or description so the cashier and the customer see the same information.

State the terms at sale

Write the warranty period and what it covers for used items, which is often different from new stock. ElectroX can track each unit individually and keep its warranty settings, so the record at the counter matches what the customer was told.
