Phone Repair Status Updates Customers Understand

Use a small set of meaningful statuses and tell customers what each one means.

A customer asking for progress usually wants to know whether the device is safe, when a decision is needed, and when it may be ready. Internal labels alone do not answer that.

## Define clear states

Use terms such as received, diagnosing, awaiting approval, waiting for part, repairing, and ready for pickup. Give staff an agreed trigger for each change.

## Communicate the exception

When a part is delayed or a new fault appears, contact the customer with a revised estimate and a next update time. Save the response with the job.

## Audit stalled tickets

Review tickets with no movement each morning. Assign a person to make the next call rather than leaving the customer to chase the store.

ElectroX service records can keep the status and customer history together, but a promised update still needs an owner.
