A Device Privacy Handoff for Repair Customers

Agree on access to personal data before taking a device behind the counter.

A repair often requires a functional test, but unrestricted browsing of a customer's phone is unnecessary. A clear privacy process protects both sides.

## Ask for minimum access

Explain which tests require the device to be unlocked and offer the customer a chance to back up or remove sensitive data. Avoid asking for a passcode when a customer can perform the test with you.

## Limit staff access

Give the job to the assigned technician, keep notes about approved tests, and avoid storing credentials in plain text. Photograph exterior damage without capturing personal notifications.

## Confirm at return

Let the customer check the repaired function and verify accessories before leaving. Delete any temporary copies used for the repair under your written policy.

ElectroX service notes can document consent and test results without storing more personal information than the job needs.
